Maths reflection

Today in LS2 we were all partnered up with a friend and had a friendly game of quizzes. Quizzes is a game where u get given question and have to answer it. This game is just like another version of kazoo. These two games involve learning and fun. It is a very competitive game and depending on your score is where you are put in the leader bored.
I found that this game was interesting and competitive.
Today for this game we were practicing time table, division and much more.

Wednesday 27 July 2016

Today is my second day back at school and I am enjoying all the time I am having learning new things. Today we had a special guest come in to teach us more about factions and what we call them when using fractions. We also learnt a lot about Olympics and about Melissa Ingram. And to end the day with self management and blogging. Tomorrow my goal is to get 5 blog post up so then I can have 15 blog post for the mouth :)

My maths goals for term 3 :)

My Maths Goals

WALT: work and achieve the goals we are setting for term 3.

For the last 2 days room 9 has been focusing on their goals. For my 2 maths goals I have put understanding ratios in the text but in different ways and finding out what decimals and percentages represent. I would like to achieve these to goals by the end of term 3 :)

WALT: divide and share things equally.

Today we had a special person come into room 9 and talk to us about fractions. Her name was Ms. Pine. Ms. Pine divided us into groups of four and had given an equation for each group to solve. We got given equations of a number of chocolate bars and children and we had to divide those chocolate bars equally so each child got the same amount as the others.

Our equation: Seven bars to the four children going kayaking.

Solution: We gave each child one whole and we had 3 bars left as the other 4 were given to the four children. We divided the 3 bars into quarters and equally gave each child a piece. At the end we got the answer of ⅓ ( one whole and 3 quarters)
In another form of saying it: 7÷4= 1¾

Today I contributed by helping my group understand the difference between numbers and how they are named when they are used in fractions.
